This illustration was made for the Boston Globe Magazine, The article dealt with the difficulty in establishing friendships and forming bonds between men. The author described his friendship with a workout buddy, and how terribly guarded and slow to open his friend was. Only after 5 years of knowing each other at the gym did his friend invite him over for drinks. The author also mentioned the various gestures and little signs which men do to show friendship without appearing too effeminate, such as little head nods, or a punch on the shoulder. I thought it would be interesting to show an array of these actions almost like it was an instruction manual for being 'a Man'.
